COVID Policy 2024

The Advanced Psychometric Methods in Cognitive Aging Research (ΨMCA) conference will be an in-person meeting from August 11-16, 2024 at Granlibakken Conference Center, Tahoe City, California. We are committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for this meeting and have established this policy to promote safety for attendees and to minimize risk of COVID infection. ΨMCA is a community and we ask that all members strive to assure that this meeting is safe for all attendees, facility staff, and people we come in contact with after leaving the conference. This policy is intended to minimize risk of COVID infection, but risk of infection during travel or at the meeting cannot be eliminated, and individuals who attend in person agree to assume responsibility for consequences of those risks.

COVID testing

We encourage pre-conference testing and testing during the conference.

  • Pre-conference
    • Negative PCR test within 72 hours of departure for conference, or
    • Negative rapid antigen test within 36 hours prior to departure
  • In-conference
    • If you develop symptoms of respiratory illness, test on the day that you first notice symptoms. Rapid antigen test kits will be provided for conference participants and adult guests. These are BD HGT076A Universal Viral Collection Kits. Attendees will conduct these tests on themselves and will verify that adult guests conduct the tests. Positive test results will be reported immediately to a member of the Organizing Committee. Roommates/suite-mates will be notified about positive test result. We will also notify all conference attendees that an attendee tested positive.

Masks and Social Distancing

We encourage use of well-fitting masks at indoor meetings and gatherings. We recommend specialized filtering masks such as N95s or KN95s, but at minimum, medical-grade surgical masks. Masks with valves are not recommended. We will provide N95 masks for all participants. Masks may be removed during meals and may be briefly removed during indoor social gatherings when actively eating or drinking. We ask that attendees use discretion about wearing masks and exercising social distancing during outdoors and non-conference activities.

We encourage workgroups to open windows and doors (weather permitting) while meeting indoors to enhance ventilation. We also encourage attendees to open windows while socializing indoors. We encourage attendees to socialize outdoors whenever possible and recommend bringing outdoor clothing appropriate to the day and evening temperatures. Local weather forecasts are available at: Tahoe City Forecast

Isolating

Individuals who test positive should self-isolate in accordance with CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/guidance/index.html)

Current guidelines (as of July 18, 2024) recommend that people stay home and isolate from others until at least 24 hours after both a) their symptoms are getting better overall and b) they have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).

Even after this isolation period, the recommendations include additional precautions, including wearing a well-fitting mask, for a period of 5 days. Individuals will be responsible for any additional expenses (including health care expenses, different or extended lodging, and cost of rearranging flights).

Health Guidelines

The COVID pandemic is still evolving, and conditions and health guideline may change as the meeting approaches. This conference will minimally abide by guidelines provided by the CDC, State of California, and Placer County but may impose additional conditions and restrictions.
